Hare and Hounds Series
The Hare and Hounds is a series of races run by Wey Kayak Club over the winter. It is based on a time trial format. Everybody is welcome to take part in any type of kayak or canoe. The slowest paddlers start first, then each individual's time is taken into account and set off accordingly with the aim of everybody finishing at the same time. This makes for a very exciting event in which no one is left behind on the water.

The course is 6 miles (10 km) up and down the river Wey from the clubhouse, with two portages in Guildford town centre and turning in front of St Catherine's lock. All entrants are expected to complete the course in under 90 minutes. An average paddler takes about 60 minutes, while the course record stands at under 40 minutes!

Trophies will be given to those in singles who show most improvement over the series, based on the 4 best finishing positions from the 5 events. The finishing time for one event is the relative start time for the next.

If you or your club would like to take part in the series or for an individual race then please e-mail Jim Rossiter with a list of names, together with their status and an estimate of their time for the course. It saves a lot of time on the first race check-in if we have all the names beforehand.
